President’s Column (July, 2024)

I’m very excited about the upcoming STC year. There is still a lot of planning to do, and I’m a little behind on getting the leadership team together. I will be scheduling that meeting later this month. I see three things that I’d like to accomplish this year:

  1. Increase collaboration with other communities
  2. Member outreach.
  3. Increase academic outreach

Increase collaboration with other communities

I’ve been working with a group of other communities to combine our resources. One of the results you will see is a new and improved Virtual Networking Lunch program. We have collaborated with the Chicago chapter and the IDL SIG to put together a schedule for the year which we will promote through the society events page in addition to each chapter’s promotional activities. We will divide up the hosting duties and invite other groups to join.

Other collaborations are coming as well, bringing all communities better programming without burning out volunteers.

Member Outreach

I hope to talk to all members over the course of the year. I want to get to know you all and to know what you hope to get out of your Ohio STC membership. I believe strongly in relationships and supporting each other in our careers. This all starts with a conversation.

Increase academic outreach.

One of the things that impressed me about the STC Summit was the number of students that attended and their willingness to be involved. STC needs these young professionals. The energy they bring to our profession is contagious. I am looking for a team to help with this initiative. If you are willing to help in anyway, please let me know (adianetti@radcomservices.com) and I’ll include you in the planning meeting.

Looking forward to a wonderful year.
